EXPERIMENTING LIGHTING

SOFT LIGHTING

We experimented soft lighting by using a soft box. In these images we faced the soft box in a different direction to which the model was sitting in. For example, in the top right image we faced the soft box to the right wall which mean that most of the light reflected on to the model on the right and the model on the left was left in the shadow. Although these images weren't as high quality as a beauty shot would be, I liked this effect because it showed clear shadow's on the faces and on the back drop behind. The features on every models face were visible but didn't particularly reflect a beauty image. If I were to explore these images further I would move my model so she would be against the soft box to see what the light would look like from behind the model.

HARD LIGHTING

In these images we used a beauty dish to create hard lighting. The beauty dish was facing the models directly in both images so the whole face was highlighted. We also used reflectors underneath the models to reflect more light on to their faces. The reflectors made the eyes slightly darker because of the way the girls are looking into the camera lens. It created shadows around the eye sockets due to the reflectors being directly below the models faces.
